What does a treatment entail?
Initial appointments at Naturopathic Foundations Health Clinic includes a 45 minute assessment of your skin, sleep, digestion, stress, and emotional health.  Your skin is an outward representation of your internal health. Without internal balance, truly healthy vibrant skin cannot exist. Once we have a good understanding of your concerns and internal imbalances we can begin treatment.  A shorter introductory treatment lasting 30-45 minutes of hands on therapy is done. This includes massage and acupressure to the shoulders, neck and face to allow for proper lymphatic drainage. Here we use oils and floral waters for ease of treatment and to nourish your skin. Following this, about 30 high quality sterile acupuncture needles are used on specifically chosen acupuncture points.
Following your initial appointment, a complete unique treatment plan is put together based on your individual concerns and needs.  During your second appointment facial massage, diet, exercise, herbs and supplements are added to your treatment regime. All appointments following your initial will last 60minutes and will include anywhere from 40-70 acupuncture needles.

WHERE

Where are needles inserted?
Fine sterile one use acupuncture needles are inserted into acupuncture points on the face and body.  Various points are chosen specifically based on each person’s concerns and overall health.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory believes that qi flows through 12 meridians/channels in the body. Like regular acupuncture, facial acupuncture involves stimulating qi, blood and fluids using needles to bring balance to the body. For thousands of years TCM practitioners have known that beauty comes from the inside, and treat based on this understanding. Various challenges in life, such as stress, overworking and injury can affect the way the life energy, ‘qi’ flows. When there is balance in the body, there is health and therefore healthy skin. When there is stagnation, deficiency, excess, problems can arise which appear on the face in the form of premature wrinkles, lustreless complexion and puffy eyes to name a few.

At NFHC Dr. Beata Skorka, ND utilizes high quality Japanese Seirin needles and intradermals for points on the face.
